Germany’s steel production starts year with decline

Data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office indicate that the country's crude steel output fell 14 percent year on year to 3.41 million metric tons in January. Pig iron output decreased 15.9 percent year on year to 2.22 million tons. Compared to previous month, January production of crude steel fell 3.5 percent and pig iron production decreased 10.5 percent.
