German plantmaker SMS Meer has announced the receipt of an order from Germany-based steelmaker Deutsche Edelstahlwerke (DEW) for the expansion of the precision sizing mill at its Siegen-Geisweid plant.

SMS Meer will provide an automatic size control system with a cross-section measuring module for the steelmaker. The precision sizing mill is used in manufacturing special steels for the automotive industry.

The expansion will enable DEW to increase the efficiency of the mill and the quality of the bars produced.

The project is scheduled to be implemented in spring 2012.
