As reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in February this year the producer prices of industrial products in Germany rose by 3.2 percent compared to February 2011 prices and were up around 0.4 percent compared to January of the current year.

The office noted that price increases for energy had the highest influence on the year-on-year change rate. Compared with the same month of the previous year, energy was more expensive by around 6.9 percent in February this year. Without considering energy, the rise in producer prices was just 1.6 percent on year on year basis.

In February, prices of intermediate goods increased by 0.5 percent as compared to the same month of 2011, while rolled steel prices fell by 5.7 percent year on year but were up by around 2.4 percent compared to the previous month.
