German metal manufacturing turnover down slightly in Sept from Aug

In September this year, the seasonally and working-day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing industry decreased by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month, according to the preliminary data reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The working day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing sector in September this year increased by just one percent compared to September 2012.
 
In the first nine months of the year, the working-day adjusted turnover in German manufacturing was 1.2 percent below the level of the same period of the previous year, with domestic sales decreasing by 2.5 percent and foreign sales rising by 0.2 percent, year on year.
 
In September, the turnover of German metal and metal product manufacturing decreased by 0.3 percent as compared to August, with domestic sales falling by 1.2 percent, while foreign sales were up by 1.2 percent, month on month. In September, a decline of 0.1 percent was recorded in the turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with domestic sales decreasing 1.5 percent and foreign sales down by 0.1 percent, both compared to the previous month.
 
In September, the largest month-on-month turnover decrease in the German manufacturing sector was observed in the motor vehicle industry with a fall of five percent, including a 3.7 percent decrease in domestic sales and a 5.7 percent decrease in foreign sales, month on month.
