German iron ore import prices up 1.2 percent in 2016

According to a report released by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in December last year the import price of iron ore in Germany increased by 43.4 percent year on year and was up 11.7 percent month on month. 
 
In December, the average import price of iron and steel and ferroalloys in Germany increased by 10.8 percent year on year and was up 2.4 percent as compared to November.
 
Meanwhile, in December last year the import price of nickel moved up by 22.9 percent compared to the same month of 2015 and rose by three percent month on month.
 
In 2016, the import price of iron ore in Germany rose 1.2 percent from 2015. In the given year, the average import price of iron and steel and ferroalloys in the country fell by 5.1 percent, while the import price of nickel declined by 17.6 percent, both year on year.
