German crude steel output down two percent in January

In January this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 20.6 percent month on month to 3.6 million metric tons, falling two percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl).
 
Meanwhile, in December Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 2.34 million metric tons, decreasing 10.2 percent year on year, including 1.63 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 13 percent year on year, and 714,000 metric tons of long steel products - down 3.3 percent year on year. 

In 2015, the country's hot rolled steel output increased by 0.3 percent year on year to 36.5 million mt, consisting of 23.8 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 0.9 percent year on year, and 12.7 million metric tons of long steel products - rising by 2.5 percent year on year.
