German crude steel output decreases three percent in January-February

In February this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 4.1 percent year on year to 3.46 million metric tons, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the January-February period, crude steel production in Germany declined by three percent year on year to 6.57 million mt. The German steel federation expects that domestic steel production will be negatively affected in the coming months due to the coronavirus.

Germany's pig iron output in February amounted to 2.13 million mt, up by 0.9 percent, while in the first two months the country's pig iron output decreased by 6.2 percent to 4.17 million mt, both year on year.

The country's hot rolled steel output increased by 3.1 percent to 2.95 million mt in February, while decreasing by 0.3 percent to 5.72 million mt in the first two months, both compared to the respective periods of the previous year.
