In the first half of 2012, the positive trend in residential construction permits in Germany continued, but with a weakened growth rate.

As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), building permits for a total of 114,000 dwellings were granted in Germany in January-June 2012. Compared with H1 2011, this indicates an increase of 4.9 percent or 5,400 buildings, following 27.9 percent and 16.6 percent year-on-year increases recorded in the first and second half of 2011 respectively.
