German-based automotive companies are seeking to specialize Mexican suppliers with better technologies and raw materials, according to media reports.

At least two German automakers plan to manufacture cars at the Spanish-speaking Latin American country, Andres Muller, subdirector at Mexico-Germany chamber of commerce (Camexa) said in an interview to local media.

“We’re approaching with Mexican chambers including Canacintra, Caintra de Nuevo Leon and other representatives of the metals industry to improve their processes because German companies, specially in the automotive industry, want to have local suppliers”, the executive said.

According to Muller, some automotive automakers in Germany have invited Mexican suppliers to participate in steel processing fair, which will be held in June this year in Dusseldorf, Germany.

According to Muller, the retake of the bilateral relations between the Mexican and Brazilian automotive industries is of high interest for German automakers, such as Volkswagen.
