General Steel’s Longmen JV wins contracts for 240,000 mt rebar supply

General Steel Holdings, Inc., a Chinese group of non-state-owned steel producer companies, announced on Tuesday, January 19 that it has won two contracts to supply 240,000 mt of rebar to support the Xi Luo Du and the Xiang Jia Ba hydropower projects, both located in western China.

Pursuant to the Xi Luo Du hydropower project contract, the company will supply 135,000 mt of rebar during the years 2010 through 2013, with 60,000 mt estimated for shipment in 2010. Also, in line with the Xiang Jia Ba hydropower project contract, the company will supply 105,000 mt of rebar during the years 2010 through 2013, with 40,000 mt estimated for shipment in 2010.

The company's Longmen Joint Venture has won both contracts as a lead-supplier and will supply 50 percent of the construction steel needed for both projects.

General Steel Holdings, Inc., headquartered in Beijing, China, has 6.3 million mt of aggregate steel production capacity.
