General Motors may end steel contract with Stelco

Stelco Inc has recently announced that General Motors sent a letter to Stelco, stating that they will end the steel contract with Stelco's Lake Erie facility with the concern that Stelco will not be able to supply the materials after July 31, 2004 as the labor agreement of the facility expires. General Motors is stated to have asked the court to terminate the agreement. Stelco officials stated that they held meetings with local representatives of United Steel Workers of America (USWA) at Lake Erie however no compromise regarding the labor agreement has been reached so far.
