French crude steel output up 0.5 percent in 2013

In 2013, French crude steel output increased by 0.5 percent year on year to 15.69 million mt, according to the latest data released by the French Steel Federation (FFA). In the given year, electric arc furnace (EAF) output fell ten percent to 5.49 million mt, while blast furnace (BF) output increased by 7.2 percent to 10.20 million mt, both year on year.
 
In December last year, French crude steel production amounted to 1.19 million mt, up by 22.3 percent year on year. In the same month, crude steel production in France using EAFs increased by 0.9 percent year on year to 336,000 mt, while crude steel production using BFs totaled 852,000 mt, increasing by 33.4 percent year on year.
