Freight volumes on China’s waterways up 3.5 percent in January-July

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced that in July this year the overall freight volume transported on China’s waterways (rivers, lakes, seas) amounted to 540 million mt, up 4.9 percent year on year, while the freight traffic volume on the country’s waterways amounted to 788.5 billion mt-km, increasing by 5.1 percent year on year. 

In the January-July period of this year, freight volumes on China’s waterways totaled 3.46 billion mt, up 3.5 percent, while the freight traffic volume amounted to 5.2194 trillion mt-km, decreasing by 0.1 percent, both year on year.
