Freight volumes at large ports in China up one percent in January-May

Overall freight volumes handled at large ports in China amounted to 670 million mt in May this year, up 2.2 percent year on year, according to China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). In particular, foreign trade accounted for 265 million mt of the total, down 2.8 percent year on year.

In the January-May period of the current year, freight volumes handled at large ports in China totaled 3.25 billion mt, up one percent year on year, with foreign trade accounting for 1.33 billion mt, down 1.7 percent year on year.
