Fortescue secures solar energy for Gibson Island project

Australian iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group has announced that it has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with Australian electricity generation company Genex Power for 337.5 MW of solar energy for its Gibson Island project.

The solar energy will be generated at Genex’s Bulli Creek Solar Project in Queensland.

Fortescue will use the renewable energy to produce 385,000 mt of green ammonia from green hydrogen generated through a 550 MW hydrogen electrolysis facility at its Gibson Island project.
