Australian miner Fortescue Metals Group has announced an increase of more than 300 million mt of iron ore resources at its Chichester Range in Western Australia. This increase includes additional tonnages lying immediately north of the known mineral resources at both Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek.

Fortescue said that the mineral resources are at or very near surface and are expected to be dry and have a low strip ratio. They will now be incorporated into the mine plans for each operation.
