French auto parts producer Faurecia will relocate a portion of its production from the United States to its facilities in Nuevo León, Mexico, the newspaper El Norte published today.

Due to the conclusion of a contract for the just-in-time supply of seats for the Stellantis automaker's Jeep Grand Wagoneer vehicles, the company will move part of its production in Michigan to Nuevo León this September.

According to the company's website, in Mexico it has 16 plants and employs 11,000 workers. In June of last year, it inaugurated two plants in the northern city of Apodaca, Nuevo Léon, where they invested around $150 million.

The company arrived in Mexico in 1997 in the central state of Puebla, a state that is home to the Volkswagen and Audi plants. Later it spread to the states of Querétaro, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Coahuila and Sonora.
