The Russian steelmaker and iron ore producer Evraz Group (Evraz) has announced that its subsidiary West-Siberian Steel Works (ZapSib) has mastered the production of new carbon steel grades - alloyed with chrome, titanium and boron - for its continuous billet caster, and of Q235B grade for its continuous slab caster.

ZapSib’s continuous billet caster produces billets with sections of 150 x 150 mm and 150 x 200 mm, while its continuous slab caster produces slabs of 200-250 mm thickness and of 1,050-1,750 mm width. The products in question are manufactured for export.

The new steel grades will allow Evraz to expand the product range of its continuous slab and billet casters, to improve the properties of its steel products according to customer requirements, and also to increase the competitiveness of ZapSib’s products.
