Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works (NTMK), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer Evraz Group, has started the reconstruction of its railway production facilities, for which it will invest more than Ruble 2 billion (about $63 million) up to November 2011.

Accordingly, as a result of the reconstruction, NTMK will be able to produce 25-meter bulk quenched rails with high surface finish, to fully satisfy the requirements of Russian Railways (RZhD), and to increase its rail supplies for export. The main consumers of NTMK's rail production are RZhD, the Baltic countries, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, as well as Turkey, Iran and Iraq.

Following the reconstruction, which includes the installation of new equipment, NTMK's annual rail production will increase from 450,000 mt to 550,000 mt.
