The Russian Evraz Group, a steel
production and mining business with operations mainly in
Russia, has stated that its crude steel
production rose 25.2 percent year on year to 4.01 million metric tons in the third quarter of 2006.
In the period in question, the company's
pig iron production recorded a 29.1 percent increase to 3.3 million metric tons, while finished steel products output went up by 29.9 percent to 3.8 million metric tons.
For the January-September 2006 period, the
production of crude steel rose 17.6 percent, the
production of
pig iron went up 13.8 percent while the
production of finished steel products increased 22.3 percent year on year at Evraz's enterprises. The respective figures in metric tons were 10.2 million, 8.5 million, and 8.9 million.
In the mining division, Evraz's
iron ore concentrate output fell 22.9 percent, sinter ore output grew 7.8 percent and pellets output jumped 46.2 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2006. The
production figures for these categories stand at the levels of 663,000 metric tons, 2.3 million metric tons and 1.5 million metric tons respectively.
For the first nine months of 2006, Evraz produced 2.1 million metric tons of
iron ore concentrate, 6.7 million metric tons of sinter ore and 3.8 million metric tons of pellets.
