Europe’s construction output in August slower than last year

In August this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) rose 0.4 percent as compared to July and was down by  2.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities,. In July, production had increased by 1.3 percent compared to the previous month.

Building construction in the EU-28 in August fell slightly by 0.1 percent month on month and was down  1.4  percent compared to August 2012, while civil engineering output increased by one percent from July and was down 7.3 percent as compared to August last year.
