According to the scrap price index issued by the European Steel Association (Eurofer), scrap prices in the European Union (EU) in June followed a mild downtrend, posting decreases in the range of 5.5-6.5 percent compared to May. In June, the year-on-year comparison is negative for all scrap qualities, while new arisings have dipped by a double digit percentage figure year on year. The scrap indexes for the first six months of the year were also down on year-on-year basis.
