According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in July this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) increased by 0.7 percent compared to June and by 2.3 compared to the same month of 2014. In June, production had decreased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous month.
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in July increased by 1.0 percent month on month and by 1.8 percent year on year. In June, production had decreased by 1.2 percent compared to May, according to the newly revised data.
Building construction in the EU-28 in July increased by 0.6 percent month on month and up 1.6 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region increased by 1.4 percent from June and was up by 6.6 percent year on year. In the euro area, building construction rose 0.9 percent month on month and 1.3 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region increased by 1.0 percent month on month and by 3.9 percent year on year.
As compared to July last year, construction output in July this year decreased in Slovenia by 14 percent, in France by three percent, in the UK by 2.3 percent, while an increase of 23.4 percent was registered in Slovakia, a gain of 15.1 percent was seen in Romania, an increase of 14 percent was recorded in the Czech Republic.
As compared to June, construction output in July decreased in Hungary by three percent, in Slovenia by 2.8 percent, in the UK by 1.3 percent, while an increase of 4.2 percent was registered in Sweden, a gain of 3.2 percent was registered in Germany, and a rise of 2.2 percent was seen in Poland.
