According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in June this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) fell by 1.1 percent compared to May and by 0.4 compared to the same month of 2014. In May, production had decreased by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month.
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in June decreased by 1.9 percent month on month and by 2.3 percent year on year. In May, production had increased by 0.2 percent compared to April, according to the newly revised data.
Building construction in the EU-28 in June decreased by 0.9 percent month on month and fell by 0.6 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region decreased by 1.7 percent from May and was up by one percent year on year. In the euro area, building construction fell by 1.6 percent month on month and fell by two percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region decreased by 2.7 percent month on month and by 3.1 percent year on year.
As compared to June last year, construction output in June this year decreased in Slovenia by 12.2 percent, in France by 6.8 percent, in Poland by 4.7 percent and in Germany by 3.9 percent, while an increase of 24.1 percent was registered in Slovakia, a gain of 15.8 percent was seen in the Netherlands, an increase of 13.1 percent was recorded in Romania and a rise of 10.8 percent was registered in Sweden.
As compared to May, construction output in June decreased in Germany by 4.5 percent, in Poland by 4.2 percent, in Sweden by 2.7 percent and in France by 2.5 percent, while an increase of 3.5 percent was registered in Romania, a gain of 2.6 percent was registered in Bulgaria, and a rise of 2.5 percent was seen in the United Kingdom.
