Euro area industrial output up 0.6 percent in July over June

In July this year, seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 0.6 percent in the euro area and by 1.1 percent in the EU-27, as compared with June. In June, production had dropped by 0.6 percent and 0.8 percent month on month respectively.
 
Meanwhile, in July this year, seasonally-adjusted industrial production decreased by 2.3 percent in the euro area and by 1.5 percent in the EU-27 year on year. These figures are released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
 
As compared to June, in July this year production of non-durable consumer goods decreased by 0.6 percent in euro area but increased by 0.2 percent in the EU-27, while capital goods rose by 2.4 percent in the euro area and increased by 2.5 percent in the EU-27. Meanwhile, the production of durable consumer goods decreased by 0.5 percent in the euro area but increased by 0.7 percent in the EU-27, while intermediate goods rose slightly by 0.1 percent in the euro area and by 0.4 percent in the EU-27. Production of energy decreased by 1.2 percent in the euro area and fell by 0.1 percent in the EU-27, month on month.
 
Among the member states for which data are available, in July as compared to the previous month, industrial production rose in 17 states and fell in five. The highest increases were registered in Lithuania (+4.4%), in United Kingdom (+2.9%), Poland (+2.4%) and in Denmark (+2.3%), while the largest decreases were in Slovenia (-2.3%), Netherlands (-0.8%) and Malta (-0.5%).
 
As compared to the same month of 2011, in July this year production of capital goods declined by 0.9 percent in the euro area but rose by 0.1 percent in the EU-27, while intermediate goods fell by 3.3 percent and 2.9 percent respectively, durable consumer goods fell by 9.4 percent in the euro area and by 6.9 percent in the EU-27, while production of energy rose by 0.3 percent in the euro area and declined by 0.2 percent in the EU-27. The production of non durable consumer goods fell by 2.2 percent in the euro area and by 1.3 in the EU-27, year on year.
 
Among the member states for which data are available, in July this year as compared to July 2011 industrial production rose in 12 states and fell in ten others. The highest increases were registered in Slovakia (+18.4%), in Latvia (+5.3%) and in Ireland (+5.1%), while the largest decreases were seen in both Italy and Estonia (-7.3%), in Spain (-5.4%), in Greece (-5.3%).
