Euro area industrial output down 0.8 percent in March from February

In March this year, seasonally-adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.8 percent in the euro area and by 0.5 percent in the EU-28, as compared with February, while industrial production in February had risen by 1.2 percent in the euro area and by one percent in the EU-28, both on month-on-month basis. In March this year compared with March 2015, industrial production increased by 0.2 percent in the euro area and by 0.3 percent in the EU-28. These figures are released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union
 
As compared to February, in March this year the production of durable goods decreased by 0.4 percent in the euro area and was down by 0.5 percent in the EU-28, while the production of non-durable consumer goods fell by 1.9 percent in the euro area and was down 1.4 percent in the EU-28. In March this year, production of capital goods decreased by 1.1 percent in the euro area and was down by 0.7 percent in the EU-28 area, while the production of intermediate goods decreased by 0.8 in the euro area and fell by 0.7 percent in the EU-28, all month on month. Meanwhile, production of energy increased by two percent in the euro area and by 1.7 percent in the EU-28, month on month. 
 
Among the member states, in March the highest month-on-month decreases were registered in Ireland (-11.2 percent), Lithuania (-3.5 percent) and Estonia (-3.3 percent), and the highest increases in Croatia (+5.0 percent), Latvia (+4.3 percent), the Czech Republic (+1.4 percent) and Spain (+1.3 percent).
 
As compared to the same month of 2015, in March this year production of durable consumer goods increased by 1.1 percent in the euro area and by 1.4 percent in the EU-28, production of intermediate goods rose by 1.1 percent in the euro area and was up by 0.7 percent in the EU-28, while production of capital goods increased by 1.6 percent in the euro area and by 1.8 percent in the EU-28, all year on year. In March this year production of non-durable consumer goods decreased by three percent in the euro area and by 2.5 percent in the EU-28, while production of energy fell by 0.7 percent in the euro area and was down by 0.4 percent in the EU-28, both on year-on-year basis.
 
Among the member states for which data are available, in March of the current year the largest year-on-year increases were registered in Croatia (+6.9 percent), Sweden (+4.9 percent) and Slovenia (+4.4 percent), and the largest decreases in Ireland (-10.6 percent), Malta (-5.4 percent), Estonia (-4.8 percent) and Greece (-4.1 percent).
