Industrial producer prices in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by 0.7 percent month on month in March, according to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In February, the revised month-on-month increase was 0.1 percent in the region.
As compared with March 2009, industrial producer prices in March this year in the EU-27 increased by 1.7 percent.
In March, prices in the energy sector increased by 1.6 percent month on month and were up 0.3 percent year on year, while prices for durable consumer goods increased by 0.3 percent over February this year and were up by 0.5 percent compared to March 2009.
On month-on-month basis, the highest increases in the total index were recorded in the UK at 1.7 percent, in Bulgaria at 1.3 percent and in Greece at 1.3 percent, while the largest decreases were seen in Sweden with 1.7 percent, in Denmark with 1.2 percent and in Estonia with 0.4 percent.
