EU-27 construction output down two percent in January over December

According to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in January this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) fell by two percent month on month and was down 8.4 percent compared to January 2009. In December last year, the production figure had increased by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month.

As compared to December 2009, construction output in January rose in Slovenia by 7.1 percent, in Sweden by 2.7 percent and in the UK by 0.9 percent, while year-on-year increases of 13.6 percent and 1.1 percent respectively were registered in Sweden and the UK.
