The European Commission (EC) has announced that it has decided to impose provisional antidumping (AD) duty on threaded tube or pipe fittings of cast iron from China and Thailand.

The AD investigation was initiated in February this year upon the complaint filed by the Defense Committee of Tube or Pipe Cast Fittings of Malleable Cast Iron of the European Union. The investigation covered the period between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011.

The Commission found that the imports of the products in question caused material injury to domestic industry citing the deterioration in profitability, production volumes, capacity utilization, sales volumes and market share. The provisional dumping duty rates for the involved parties from the two countries range from 15.9 percent to 67.8 percent.

The products covered by the investigation currently fall within CN code ex 7307 19 10.
