EU finished steel imports up 30.22 percent in Q1

According to the European Steel Association (EUROFER), in March this year European Union (EU) flat steel imports reached 1.259 million mt, while EU long steel imports amounted to 253,000 mt. Accordingly, overall EU finished steel imports in March totaled 1.512 million mt, down 4.6 percent month on month and up 18.4 percent compared to the same month of 2012.

In the first three months of the current year, EU flat steel imports increased by 37.14 percent and long product imports rose by 4.42 percent, with overall EU finished steel imports for the period up 30.22 percent, all year on year.
