EU final ruling on new HRC AD duties expected this week

The new duty proposals by the EU to be imposed on hot rolled coil imports from a number of countries mainly Bulgaria, Turkey, Slovakia, South Africa and Egypt still remain unresolved. No final decision by the Commission has been achieved yet after a number of discussions and hearings. As a final step, the Commission passed the case onto the Council for a decision on March 18, 2003. Following such a possibility of new HRC duties to be imposed, the countries involved entered into bilateral negotiations with the EU for price undertaking agreements. As per the trade laws, the Commission has time until March 22, 2003 to finalise the new duty rates.
