EU decision on newly proposed HRC duties are awaited

Since January 1, 2003, South African origin steel products are exempted from EU's regular import duties through the presentation of EUR 1 certificates. HRC is however still subject to 5.2% anti-dumping duty until the EU decides whether to increase it or not. The Commission is expected to hold a voting with respect to the newly proposed duties. A final decision is expected to come during the meeting to be held on February 20, 2003.
