In an interview published in Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Antonio Gozzi, president the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai announced "the launch of the European action plan for the iron and steel industry".

Regarding the scope of the action plant expected to be launched by June 2013, Mr. Gozzi stated that apart from interventions in individual cases, a European strategy is required for the iron and steel industry and discussions must be made at the international level.

One of the issues pointed by Federacciai president is the cost of energy and raw materials, as these factors "affect particularly the European steel industry compared to other parts of the world such as the US and China". Moreover, Mr. Gozzi highlighted the need for a bilateral communication in the field of trade politics.
