Zlatoust Metallurgical Works (ZMZ), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding, has announced that using new production technology it has expanded the product range of its rolling shop No. 1.

Accordingly, at its rolling mill 1150 ZMZ is now able to produce steel rounds of 230 mm and 240 mm in diameter and of 6 m in length. Moreover, ZMZ is currently preparing new calibrations for its rollers, which will allow it to roll rounds of 260 mm in diameter. Previously, the mill produced rounds of 210 mm in diameter and up to 3 m in length.

The new production technology will enable ZMZ to cut its production costs by about 10 times to Ruble 1,500/mt ($41.5/mt), and to produce up to 5,000 mt of rounds of over 200 mm in diameter and up to 6 m in length.
