Guryevsk Metallurgical Works (GMZ), a subsidiary of Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR), has announced that in November this year it produced 17,300 mt of crude steel in open hearth furnaces - up 269 percent, 20,000 mt of long steel products - up  232 percent, and 6,700 mt of steel grinding balls - up 218 percent, all compared to November 2008.

Accordingly, for two months in succession, GMZ has produced more than 20,000 mt of longs, which is almost 40 percent higher than the figure registered in the pre-crisis period. "The plant managed to significantly increase its output due to the solution of problems regarding stability of raw material supply and due to the proper organization of its production process," reads the company's statement.

In addition, in November GMZ developed new types of products including steel bars of 11,700 mm length and steel grinding balls of 120 mm diameter.
