Guryevsk Metallurgical Works (GMZ), a subsidiary of Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR), has announced that in October this year it produced 18,500 mt of crude steel in open hearth furnaces - up 118 percent, 20,300 mt of long steel products - up  49 percent, and 6,000 mt of steel grinding balls - up 129 percent, all compared to September.

"The plant has developed a production program focused on solving raw material supply problems and based on the proper organization of the production process. In recent months, we achieved a stable supply of quality raw materials in the required quantities, which allowed us to eliminate the imbalance in the plant's steelmaking and rolling capacities, and also enabled us operate our production facilities at full capacity," GMZ's director general Yuri Gushin said.
