Essar Steel plans joint ventures in South Africa

Indian steel producer Essar Steel is reportedly planning to set up joint venture companies in South Africa. The company will initiate negotiations with Kumba Resources, one of the largest steel producers in South Africa. The company will also meet officials from Iscor, Highveld Steel & Vanadium, Cisco and Scow. Essar Steel officials stated that they chose South Africa as it has large reserves of iron fines which can be converted into steel.
