Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario-based integrated steel producer Essar Steel Algoma announced Tuesday that due to a cooling water leak on January 21, 2011 and extreme weather conditions, there has been an unplanned outage of its No. 7 Blast Furnace.

The company has begun a slow and controlled restart of the furnace, and expects the furnace to be fully operational in approximately 10 days.
