Emirates Steel’s rebar sales up 4.5 percent in 2016

UAE-based steelmaker Emirates Steel has announced its operational results for the full year of 2016. Accordingly, in 2016 Emirates Steel produced 510,000 mt of wire rod, 2.06 million mt of rebar and 547,000 mt of heavy section including sheet piles. 
 
In 2016, the company recorded an increase of nine percent in output at its direct reduction plant compared to 2015, while production at its rolling mill No. 2, rolling mill No. 5, steelmaking plant No. 2 and steelmaking plant No. 3 increased by 6.2 percent, 7.7 percent, 8.2 percent and 10 percent, respectively, all year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in the given year, Emirates Steel’s rebar sales rose by 4.5 percent to 2.14 million mt, wire rod sales went up by 19.6 percent to 422,542 mt and heavy section sales decreased by 8.25 percent to 479,807 mt, all compared to 2015.
