Egyptian companies, which have been gradually increasing steel exports to European countries, have continued to work on further strengthening their positions. In fact, one of the main exporters, Suez Steel, has lately obtained the necessary rebar certifications for several countries, which allows it to expand the geographical range of its sales.

European steel distribution company JSC LITMET has successfully certified straight and spooled reinforcing bars of leading Egyptian producer Suez Steel according to Polish standard (PN-H-93220-2018-02), Finnish standard (SFS 1300:2020), Swedish (SS-EN 10080:2005 + SS 212540:2011), Norwegian standard (NS-EN 10080:2005 and NS 3576-2:2012, NS 3576-3:2012), and Baltic (LST EN10080-2005) standards. This development enables Suez Steel to supply their reinforcing bars to the construction markets in Scandinavia, Poland and the Baltic countries.

Steel trading company JSC LITMET, with operates warehouses in Finland, Norway, Lithuania, and Poland, has been the exclusive distributor of SUEZ Steel reinforcing bars in Scandinavia, the Baltic countries, and Poland since early 2023. This certification provides numerous benefits to SUEZ Steel Co, such as improved access to these markets and increased customer confidence in their products. “This certification marks a major success for both companies, achieved through close collaboration,” a JSC LITMET representative said.

Currently, Suez Steel operates a 1.95 million mt DRI module and two melt shops of a 2.05 million mt joint capacity and the same amount of longs capacity at its three longs rolling mills. The product range includes reinforcing bars from 8 mm to 40 mm, rebar in coils (spool winding) from 8 mm to 25 mm, and wire rod from 5.5 mm to 16 mm. The abovementioned certification confirms the high-quality production culture of Suez Steel and allows the company to significantly expand their sales markets. A year ago, Suez Steel successfully obtained the approvals for its rebar to be used in construction in such countries as Romania, the UK and Germany.
