On August 19, 2005, the European Commission (EC) imposed antidumping duties on grain-oriented flat-rolled products of silicon-electrical steel (GOES) imported from US and Russia. However, the EC has decided on its own initiative to initiate a partial interim review for the existing measures against imports of GOES from US and Russia in an effort to exclude very thin GOES (in thicknesses up to 0.1 mm) from the scope of the measures. Interested parties are requested to submit their comments on the issue within 40 days as of October 20, 2006, which is the date of publication of the notice in the Official Journal of the European Union. The current antidumping duty against GOES imports from US at AK Steel Corp is 31.5 percent, while for other US companies, it is 37.8 percent. With regard to Russia, while Viz Stal is subject to 0 percent antidumping duty, NLMK and all other companies are subject to 11.5 percent antidumping duty.
