Details of China's new export tariff policy

The Chinese government has issued the detailed list of steel products which are subject to the new export tariff effective as of June 01, 2007.

According to the new list, flat rolled products other than cold rolled sheets and coils are subject to a five percent export tariff while long steel products are subject to a 10 percent export tariff. In total, steel products under 83 tariff codes are subject to the new taxes. In addition, the export tariff on semi-finished steel products, ferroalloys and ores (covering a total of 26 tariff codes) which was previously 10 percent, has been increased to 15 percent.
