Decline in China’s finished steel imports through 2005

China's finished steel imports through 2005 decreased 11.73 percent year on year decline in quantity, however, increased 18.5 percent in value.
China imported 1.83 million metric tons finished steel products in December with $1.76 billion value, while total imports through 2005 reached 25.66 million metric tons with $24.63 billion value.
Rebar and
wire rod imports through 2005 regressed 20.97 percent to 1.09 million metric tons, while their value reached $1.01 billion, up 10 percent.
Angle imports also decreased sharp with 21.12 percent to 622,866 metric tons through 2005 with $321.68 million value, down 5.61 percent.
Flat rolled imports decreased 10.44 percent to 22.49 million metric tons with $20.14 billion value, up 17.19 percent. Imports of hot rolled sheet/coil and cold rolled sheet coils indicated 2.67 and 5 percent increases respectively to 3.09 million mt and 7.16 million mt, while
plate imports declined 61.62 percent to 1.4 million mt.
Steel
pipe and tube imports reached 678,251 metric tons through 2005 with $1.7 billion value. The quantity of steel imports decreased 17.71 percent, while the value increased 44.5 percent.
