Danieli to install new billet caster for North American Stainless

North American Stainless, a wholly owned subsidiary of Spain's Acerinox S.A., has ordered a four-strand new billet caster from Danieli Centro Met. The new caster is set to start production in February 2005. The new caster will be a four-strand machine with a 10mm casting radius; a fifth strand will be anticipated in the design. Products will be 130 and 200 mm square billets. Grades to be cast will be austenitic, austenitic-low carbon, austenitic with titanium, martensitic, and ferritic stainless. The company started its operations in 1994, as a slab processor and installed finishing lines, a melt shop and a bar mill afterwards.
