Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that its subsidiary Danieli Service has restored the stainless steel complex of Bahrain-based United Stainless Steel Company (USCO). Danieli Service has restored the plant to full production providing new spare parts, technical support, refurbishment and the upgrade of key equipment.

The upgrade covered the combined annealing and pickling line with in-line skin pass mill, the 20-high rolling mill, the coil grinding line, and the slitting and cut-to-length lines. Several enhancements were also made to the automation system and to the annealing furnace.

Supplied by Danieli in 2007, designed to produce 100,000 mt per year of austenitic stainless steel in polished finish, the complex was stopped in 2011.

According to Danieli, following a recent agreement between USCO and Swiss company Chromiumtrade SA the decision to restart operations was taken. Chromiumtrade SA will procure black coils, manage operations and market the end products.
