CTSA estimates 20 percent rise in China’s raw coal output in H1

China's output of raw coal in the first half of the current year is estimated to reach 1.57 billion mt, up 263 million mt or 20 percent year on year, Dong Yueying, deputy director of China's Coal Transportation and Sales Association (CTSA) has stated at the Asia-Pacific Coal Market Summit held on July 7-8 in Dalian, Liaoning Province, China.

The CTSA official also said that the sales volume of commercial coal in China in the first six months of the current year is estimated to reach 1.545 billion mt, up 300 million mt or 24 percent year on year.

Mr. Dong added that coal inventory in the Chinese domestic market stood at 204 million mt at the end of June, up 32 million mt or 18.6 percent compared with the start of 2010 and up 3.4 million mt or 1.7 percent compared with the end of May.

He also stated that Chinese coal producers have posted increased profits in a context of increased levels of both coal prices and production costs.
