Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) is currently using the Mubadala-owned Sudeste Port as a way to resume iron ore shipments, following a halt at its mining arm CSN Mineracao in the Itaguai port in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

A CSN source told Reuters that insurance covers the additional costs involved in shipping iron ore out of the Sudeste Port.

The source said CSN is expected to resume iron ore shipments at its terminal at the Itaguai port next month, once a reclaimer that transports iron ore is fixed following an accident at the port terminal.

The source said a company’s reclaimer that transports iron ore is currently being fixed, following an accident at the company’s port terminal. CSN hasn’t replied to SteelOrbis’ questions, nor explained what caused what sources defined as an “accident.”

CSN Mineracao is one of Brazil’s top iron ore exporters, just behind giant mining company Vale. Market analysts estimated about 50 percent of CSN’s EBITDA comes from its iron ore business.
