CSI Tubular Products commissions new ERW line

Germany-based plantmaker SMS Meer has announced that US-based CSI Tubular Products, Inc. (CSITP), a wholly-owned subsidiary of California Steel Industries, Inc. (CSI), has successfully commissioned an electrical resistance welding (ERW) production line for pipes with diameters up to 609.6 mm, which was supplied by SMS Meer.
 
The plant achieves production speeds of up to 35 meters per minute and is capable of producing up to 400,000 mt of pipe per year.
 
According to SMS Meer, the new plant is able to produce pipes with outside diameters of between 219.1 mm and 609.6 mm. Wall thicknesses range from four mm to 19.1 mm, with pipe lengths of between six meters and 24.4 meters.
