CSC plans to construct a new slab mill

Taiwan's the sole integrated steel producer China Steel Corp. (CSC) is planning to construct a NTD 18 billion (approx.$518 million) worth slab mill at Taichung Harbour in central Taiwan. The new slab mill which will be constructed by subsidiary Kuay Yue Steel, will have an annual capacity of 1.8 million tons and will supply slab to sister company Yieh Loong Enterprise. The construction of the mill is subject to CSC board meeting approval on June 18, 2003.
