Construction starts on Zhujiang welded steel pipe project in Guangdong, China

On January 14, the first phase of construction got underway on the Zhujiang welded steel pipe production project in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China. The Zhujiang steel pipe project is being built by Guangdong Province-based Chinese pipe manufacturers Chu Kong Petroleum and Natural Gas Steel Pipe Holdings Limited at an expected cost of RMB 5 billion ($754 million).

The Zhujiang welded steel pipe project will include the construction of a spiral welded pipe production line, a longitudinally welded pipe production line and an ERW pipe production line, and is expected to become one of the largest and most competitive welded pipes manufacturing bases in China. It is estimated that the first phase of the Zhujiang steel welded pipe project will be completed in June this year, while the overall project when completed will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 mt of steel pipes and will supply oil and gas projects in the South China Sea region.
